The Catesby Property Group Plc has applied for detailed planning on the next phase of its £75m “Firstpoint” development in Doncaster.
310,000 square feet of production, warehousing and distribution facilities are now with Doncaster Council for consideration. When approved, the plans will commit further investment into Doncaster by the Midlands-based land, development and regeneration company.
It will also see four new site developments on the business park which spans 120 acres and is the largest development of its kind in South Yorkshire.
B&Q, The Holiday Inn and Harley Davidson are amongst the businesses now trading on the scheme along with a pub/restaurant and a number of local and national companies who have relocated to the office space - which forms a major part of the ongoing development work at Firstpoint.
900,000 square feet of production, warehousing and distribution space has already been completed on the scheme along with 100,000 square feet of quality office space, with sales and lettings said to be on target, despite a slow-down in the property market overall.
Lee Barrett, Commercial Development Director of Catesby Property Group said; “This scheme is the largest development of small to medium sized industrial units in the Doncaster and the surrounding area for many years.
“There has been a gross undersupply of appropriate facilities for SMEs in this area of Yorkshire for some time and this has been reflected in the sales we have recorded to date.
“Standard Life has already invested significantly into the scheme believing it will be a valuable addition to its impressive property portfolio. At the same time, we are in talks with a number of smaller, local businesses who are in need of improved facilities to boost their business potential.”
Catesby hopes to start building out the four new sites now in for planning in early 2008, with a target completion date of early December of the same year.
