50% of homes have sold at luxury residential development Meadow View in Redbourn near Harpenden, despite a slow start and an unsteady market.
Formerly the address of Universal Salvage’s breakers yard, the nine acre site has been transformed by developers Catesby Property Group and Donald Harrison Homes into a traditional countryside hamlet. Now home to 20 four and five bedroom detached houses, a manor house with seven apartments, a village green and a wildlife pond - Hertfordshire househunters can’t seem to get enough of these country residences.
Meadow View show home opened in August 2007, attracting significant interest but not sealing deals. Since the beginning of this year however, more than half of the plots have now been sold and the development is continuing to turn home buyers’ heads.
John Scott from Catesby Property Group, said: “Low levels of buyer confidence at the end of last year led to a sluggish start to sales at Meadow View, but its unique rural setting, complementary mix of detached house styles with incredible scenic views and its easily commutable location are starting to speak volumes in terms of sales success.”
Meadow View is less than 30 minutes by train from nearby Harpenden Station to St Pancras and half a mile from junction nine of the M1, within eight miles of the M25 so makes a perfect rural retreat from the rat race.
Steve Ewer of Donald Harrison Homes, added: “I would challenge anyone to find a new build scheme this close to central London in such a rural setting. The views from the homes are really breathtaking – even in deep winter. Anyone wanting a complete change from the crowded Capital with fresh air and space should find the answer here.”
